Correction: Google Sitemaps Does NOT Cause Error on WordPress

I wrote some time ago that I encountered an error when using Google Sitemaps vis-a-vis pinging services and WordPress. Turns out, this was incorrect.

It was a correlation != causation thing, but the timing was extremely coincidental. The error was in regards to pinging sites to notify them of an update, and I’d just installed Google Sitemaps, which provides this service. And when I disabled Google Sitemaps, the error went away.

Except yesterday, I had the plugin still disabled and yet encountered the error. It turned out that the problem was my LiveJournal Crossposter. LJ was down for maintenance, and since WP couldn’t hit LJ, it errored.

My bad :-? I have disabled the LJ Crossposter for now, and will re-enable it once LJ is back up and working.
