Is God love? Well, he’s certainly more than love, but a number of people maintain that the statement “God is love” is dangerously inaccurate due to his hate of sin. To study God’s love more in-depth, I’ve decided to start with the book of 1 John, beginning with verses one through four in this first installment of the Online Bible Study.
It seems as if all of the feedback I have received in the last few months has been resoundingly negative, and it would be easy to let that dictate my work and force me to quit. But I can’t let those criticisms undermine my sense of integrity–I must remain true to myself.
Despite my initial hesitancy, I accepted the offer of a skilled web designer to create for me a new web site. SilverPen Pub now features a custom design crafted by my friend Ryan Burrell, and its combination of beauty and functionality is simply wonderful.
After the furious update to SilverPen, I was finally able to sit down and take stock. My Saturday was rather full, but that was by design. I work full time (forty hours) during the week, and then add on six hours of class, two or three hours of college ministry attendance, and a few other obligations to pretty much fill my weekdays. As such, Saturdays are the only time for other work, so I spent the morning mowing the lawn, cleaning the house, and then working on my website with Ryan.
I’ve got twelve drafts saved here in WordPress with ideas that I’d really like to write blog entries about, and I considered doing that tomorrow morning before church. I’ve also got a scifi novel sitting in Scrivener, mocking me, that I’d really like to work on. So far I have finished a first draft of the first chapter for that book, which was promptly torn to shreds by my independent editor, as well as a revised outline for the story. Thought I did some writing during my music class last Monday night, I haven’t made much progress yet, and the temptation is strong to spend some time tomorrow working on chapter two.
I completely forgot to write something for this space in anticipation of the new theme going live, so instead of something well thought out and awesome, you get a filler article. More information on Monday, though!
With our college ministry ending, or at least my time with it drawing to a close, I’m going to start focusing more on independent Bible study. Part of this will be publishing a weekly Bible study and, if time permits, a weekly podcast of the same. Read on for more details.
